Located in a very small alley is a Japanese restaurant called Yamato. It was quite difficult to find the restaurant, as we need to walk into a dark and scary alley. Okay, I think I’ve been watching too many movies.

The restaurant is very cramped with approximately 10 tables and 2 staffs (kitchen staffs not included). The table was extremely tiny as well so I suggest you not to bring too many belongings when visiting this restaurant.

On that freezing night, my sister and I decided on the sukiyaki ($15.80/person). On the pot, there were some rice noodles, carrots, tofu, enoki mushroom, lettuce and beef that I love with so much passion. I expected the broth to be a bit too sweet like the usual sukiyaki that I had in Jakarta but it wasn’t. On contrary, the broth was delicate with an excellent sprinkle of seasoning. The beef was easy to chewed on and the other ingredients were nice.

I also ordered a glass of choya umeshu ($12) to warm up our bodies. Actually, I was kind of shocked when my sister told me that she paid $12 for a glass of umeshu. She asked the staff about it and the staff said it was the price of a bottle, which certainly more than the amount that we got.

Choya Umeshu (Excuse my face)

The only thing that let us down was the misunderstanding about the choya umeshu. Other than that, we have no complaint.
