Happy Easter everyone! Last Easter Sunday, my friends and I went to try this one of a kind brunch spot called MART 130. We were a little skeptical about the entrance because the cafe is located at (I repeat AT) a tram stop in a quiet neighbourhood, as if an unexpected gem. If my peers did not advise me about this hidden treasure, I would not have any idea about it. I reckoned that MART 130 means TRAM 130, guessing from the reverse R from the wall and duh you should get off at Tram Stop 130 if you want to dine here.

We were seated on the balcony, and goodness how it was picturesque! I am glad they gave us an opportunity to appreciate the sunshine and experience the beauty of nature (and manmade structures).

The cold never bothered me anyway, thanks to this body warming Chai Latte ($5).

It got flavourful spices and exotic aroma. Not only did it taste good, but Chai Latte is good for our health too. So, it was a win - win situation.

Corn Fritter w/ Grilled Bacon, Tomato Relish, Sour Cream ($18.50)

I never expected that a crispy corn fritter would be pleasurably taunting. The corn’s sweetness, the bacon’s saltiness,  the tomato as well as the sour cream’s tanginess. The flavours danced together like a party in my mouth. Gosh, I may have to sue the dish for stalking my mind every single day after.

Triple Pancake w/ Vanilla Ice Cream and Pure Canadian Maple Syrup ($13.90)
Fluffy, buttery, thick pancakes with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, drizzled with maple syrup as much as I want. Irresistibly sweet to satisfy anyone’s sweet tooth. Although the dish was flawless, it was not something that is uncommon. On the contrary, I rarely found a restaurant that could masterfully make the previous dish.

That was an unforgettable experience. My friends and I were greatly surprised by what the hidden brekkie heaven had offered. It was beyond our expectation. If you want to enjoy some fantastic food away from the busy city, you should definitely visit Mart 130, and give the corn fritter a try. No joke!

Operator 25 is a brunch restaurant that has been receiving much love and a few hates from its customers. Even my friend who came before, has a love and hate relationship with the restaurant. Their menu is always changing depending on the season. I heard through the grapevine that sometimes the menu can be delectable, but other times it can be not so appetising.

On my housemate’s birthday, my friends and I decided to take her to Operator 25 to enjoy some desserts after she treated us to a delightful lunch at Chin Chin restaurant. We were being a little greedy by ordering two (all) of the sweets listed on the menu, despite our full stomachs that nearly exploded.

Deconstructed Lime Cheesecake ($14)
Goat cheese, lime zest, milk crumbs, passionfruit gel, fresh berries, pomegranate pearls and coconut ice cream

We could taste nothing but the lime’s sourness. The tanginess was insane. The candy floss and the coconut ice cream did not help to ease the tanginess. The dessert was not bad at all, just that instead of the sole sour taste, we craved for a little featuring from a sweet flavour. Nevertheless, beautiful presentation!

Thai Milk Tea Sago ($12)
Thai red tea sago, honeydew, rock melon, coconut and condensed milk foam

A sweet symphony of fresh fruits, milk, and tea. This dessert was more suitable to be listed on the sweets section on the menu than the previous one. It tasted fresh, comforting, and most importantly the milk tea flavour was strong enough.

Peanutella Melt ($6)
Nutella parfait, Reese’s peanut butter cup, Oreo crumbs and hot chocolate milk

My friend opted for it, and she said it was not as phenomenal as she thought it would be. It made me realise that sometimes a menu description could be deceiving.

I am not sure whether I want to go back to Operator 25. It got a nice ambiance, nice service, and enjoyable food, but I do not think it was incredible. I am still figuring whether I should be on Team Pro or Team Contra.
